Rain Boot Printing {Process Art For Chilly Days}
Rain boot painting is a perfect art activity for chilly time of the year.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to get outside and bring some bright colors in your day.
Do you have a few big boxes sitting in your garage that you don’t want to throw them away without use? Get them out!
Put rain boots aka puddle stompers, wellie boots or whatever else you call them on, and have fun!
Your little one will LOVE how this activity combines process art and gross motor activity all at the same time.
Here’s exactly what you need to set up with simple and fun process art activity.
Set Up: 5 min
Use: one time
Supplies
- plastic tray
- color paints
- rain boots
- cardboard boxes, the bigger the merrier
Tape (optional)
How to Set Up Rain Boot Painting Activity
The pictures are pretty self explanatory so I will not get into boring, obvious details.
However here’s a few tips & tricks I want to share with you that you might find helpful:
- If you want to minimize running around with paint boots outside the designated area (cardboard) I suggest you make a little border around the cardboard area. I turned out naturally with the flat boxes I had.
- Secure all pieces of cardboard together with a tape to avoid stumbling and tripping over.
- Use complimentary colors so they won’t make brown mud paint.
- Keep paper towels handy for cleaning hands etc.
As a mom, you sure know that not all activities are done as you intended them. Your child will take his own lead and sometime might even ignore the whole thing all together.
Well, it’s kinda hard and close to impossible to ignore a tray of bright colors sitting right in front of you.
With my little man, he was as enthusiastic painting with his hands as painting with his puddle stompers LOL. Hey, we’re talking about 18 month old little dude here. It’s a little different with bigger kids.
I’m glad I’ve set up a large space with delivery boxes and would probably extended it a little bit had I more cardboard. He still had a blast painting, running watching the result.
